Keegan Witte
Keegan Witte
President

100% Likable

We are so sure that you will like Keegan Witte, that we are banking on it.  Come in and meet Keegan free of charge.  If you are not completely satisfied with his personality, we will give you a full refund.

Keegan’s a super interesting guy, and the perfect fit for Horn Photo.

He will listen to you intently as you talk about photography.  He loves the subject.  But if you really want him to geek out on a topic, bring up vegetable gardening, or home coffee roasting.

His big into regenerative farming.  While many of us are still sleeping, Keegan is outside at the first light of day tending to the crops on his two acres.  We love it too, because he shares the fruits (and vegetables) of his labor with us at Horn Photo.  One of Keegan’s other big passions is home coffee roasting.

Keegan has other hobbies besides growing food and roasting coffee.  Keegan, his wife, and their son and daughter spend time together enjoying water sports and snow sports.   He truly has more hobbies than he has time, but he manages to squeeze as much out of life as he possibly can.

Keegan’s education and job history is all about business.  He’s a graduate of UC Davis and Fresno State.  He worked his way up the ranks with Bank of the West,  then worked for the Assemi Group, and most recently was the CFO of Granville Homes.

How did Keegan wind up as President of Horn Photo?  He was recruited for the position by Teamshares (the organization that bought Horn Photo from Stan and Shelly Grosz in 2022, to transition it to an employee-owned business.)

The timing was perfect. Keegan was already contemplating a career change when Teamshares contacted him and asked him to consider becoming president of Horn Photo.  He was familiar with Horn Photo, loved the store’s unique culture and was always impressed by the knowledgeable and friendly staff.  After spending some time talking with Teamshares, Keegan was highly impressed with their philosophies, business model and objective of helping small businesses become employee-owned.  The rest is history in the making.

Alan Alvarez
Alan Alvarez
Camera Photo and Video Specialist

He's contagious!

Alan Alvarez's enthusiasm for photography is contagious, but not the bad kind of contagious that necessitates wearing a mask. Here's what we mean: When Alan hears people talk about his favorite subject, film photography, he gets excited. And when Alan gets in on the conversation, he gets even more excited. He practically bursts with excitement. Alan is imaginative and very creative. His brain is awash with photo, video, and graphics design ideas that have an element of surprise in them. He likes turning his ideas into photo projects. It's Alan's creative outlet. Alan would love to see and hear about the photo projects that you have done.

Come in and talk to Alan and you'll see what we mean. But be careful. Wear an apron. You might get some of his excitement on you, and it doesn't wash off easily.

Here are two more tidbits of information about Alan that are not related to photography:     1. He spoke Spanish before he learned English.     2. He makes killer fish tacos.

Come in and talk photography with Alan. You choose which language: Spanish, English or a combo.

Now, Waterfowl Calling may not be your "calling" but it is a fascinating subject. And Darrin is a super interesting guy.

How did Darrin end up as the Camera and Video Guru at Horn Photo? Because he loves photography. Darrin grew up in Kerman, spent his free time hunting and fishing. The scenery he was surrounded by was so beautiful, that he wanted to share it with others. That's how photography became an important part his life.

You will find Darrin behind our camera counter. Not only does he speak in Bird, but he provides superb customer service. Darrin has years of prior experience in retail and retail management. He genuinely wants our customers to know that they're important.

Come and talk with Darrin. He's eager to hear about your experiences with photography and nature.

Alissa Kennedy
Alissa Kennedy
Marketing Director

Totally Not a Pyro

Meet Alissa Kennedy. Seeing her is a rare sight, some would even say she’s a mythical creature, but really we just hide her in the back to produce our media content. She will come out of hiding for coffee and donuts, to talk about film photography, or if you ask to say hi!

Alissa is bringing a fresh eye to Horn Photo’s brand and marketing! We recently imported her from San Diego, and she is delighted to return to her roots in the Photography & Photo Print industry, and to her hometown of Fresno. She is a multimedia powerhouse with a spectrum of skills ranging from digital marketing, graphic design, web design, branding, in addition to photography, videography, image retouching, and video editing. She has a Bachelors of Science in Web Design and Development from Chicago. Not only that, her wit is as sharp as her eyeliner! Alissa spent years in the marketing industry working for marketing agencies, corporate in-house marketing departments, and working with charity organizations. She has created social media content for instagram accounts with tens-of-thousands and even millions of followers! She is also a retouch artist who works on some of our photo restorations!

Alissa started her journey with photography in high school where she took 2 years of darkroom classes; we’re talking real dodging and burning! She fell in love with simple “toy cameras”, and she delights in creating out-of-this-world film photos through a process called “cross processing” where she runs slide film through color negative chemistry to create unpredictable color shifted photos. Alissa has an extensive knowledge of film photography and is on a personal mission to share the love of analog photography with more people. She has a passion for fire photography, some would even say an obsession, and she shares the wisdom that "anything can be a fire prop once!" She loves a city grunge aesthetic, wildflower photography, and any excuse to use color lights. Feel free to say hello next time you stop by Horn Photo!

Austin Placencia
Austin Placencia
Team Member

Austin is a Fresno native who graduated from Central High School, and is interested in pursuing a career in psychology.

Austin loves helping people, seeing their photos and hearing the stories behind them.  He’s a guy that has a ton of energy, likes to keep busy and active, yet at the same time is very easy-going and low key with customers.

He was always used to being in front of the lens, however once he started taking pictures, he fell in love with being behind the lens.   Austin enjoys shooting with film. He loves the skill challenge, but mostly the surprise of not knowing what he is going to get until the film gets developed.  He equates it to opening gifts on Christmas morning!

When Austin is not working at Horn Photo, he likes working out at the gym, taking pictures, and spending time with friends and family during game night.  His favorite place to go is the beach.  He enjoys being near the water and feeling the cool breeze that comes with it.

Boxing's Biggest Fan

Mandie is a sweet, soft spoken and gentle soul.  But wait, there’s more!  A lot more.

She is also the loudest person in the room when cheering on Light-Heavyweight World Champion boxer Dmitry Bivol.  She is a boxing fanatic!   When Mandie was growing up, her family spent their evenings watching professional boxing on TV.

Boxing isn’t the only sport Mandie loves.  She loves football, and her team the 49ers, and she played softball.

Mandy grew up in Pinedale, and still considered it her neighborhood.  She regularly visits her old elementary school to help out her former teachers.

What does all of this have to do with photography?  Nothing.  But it sure does add depth to her character!

Mandie got her first camera when she was 15.  She’s been taking pictures ever since.  Her favorite subject is the nature around her.  She loves going outside and photographing plants and wildlife right outside of her home.    Mandie has gained education and experience by taking photography courses at Fresno City College.

Adam Deis
Adam Deis
Lab Manager

“I brought an Arts/Sciences background rather than a photo education to the game”

Adam has been in the industry since 1986 when he worked for Technicolor, where he became a wizard at the art and science of photo lab processing. He joined Horn Photo in 1996 to fire up our onsite photo lab. YESWe were ecstatic to have him become part of the team.

Adam has a passion for nature photography, often with an accent on macro and abstract images, and also loves shooting live band performances. Soothing nature and loud music seems like a contradiction, but then Adam is somewhat of an enigma.

Greg Light

He has been passionate about photography ever since taking a photo class in high school. Greg followed that up with four years of photography courses at Fresno City College. Board Certified Photo Nerd

We haven’t discovered any videos of Dennis Silva wearing a Jedi costume while swinging around a light saber in his garage, but make no mistake.  Dennis Silva is a nerd.  Nerds tend to specialize, and Dennis happens to be a Board Certified Photo Nerd.

Dennis’ background and education is in mechanical engineering, which goes with his love and knowledge of science and technology.  He is the perfect guy to work in our Photo Lab!   Dennis applies his knowledge towards making sure that your prints, scans and film developing are the best they can possibly be.

When Dennis is not in our Photo Lab, you may find him up in the Sierras, Coast Range or Great Basin hiking and testing out gear.  He’s used film cameras from the 1980, all the way up to the latest cutting edge mirrorless cameras and finds things to love about each of them.

Isaiah Soto
Isaiah Soto

Does Isaiah ever sleep?

Isaiah is as friendly and personable as he looks! He takes great pride in doing his part to make sure you are happy with your pictures.

He is always taking pictures. He started with a Polaroid camera when he was just a youngster. Then he advanced to film. There's practically no place where he doesn't pull out his camera or his phone to take pictures and videos.

Isaiah also loves listening to and playing music. It is a passion for him. He plays five instruments...so far. Here they are: cello, piano, alto saxophone, tenor sax, and baritone sax.  He not only plays all of these instruments, he also makes music through digital software. His tastes vary from funk, R&B, and music from the 70s 80s and 90s.

He has other hobbies too, such as rebuilding old cars and working on new construction projects.

Does this guy ever sleep? NO! At least not on the job.

Film runs through his blood

Meet Anthony.  He’s friendly, outgoing and interesting.  If you tell Anthony what your favorite movie is, he has probably seen it.  Film runs through his blood, and takes up much of his brain.

Anthony’s overwhelming passion for film and photography started when he was four years old and saw his very first movie, Jurassic Park.   One would think that a better first movie for a four year old might be Finding Nemo or Monster’s Inc., but somehow, it wasn’t.  Seeing Jurassic Park at that age did keep him awake at night, but not because he was traumatized.  It lit fire in Anthony that has burned bright ever since.   Early in his life, Anthony decided to create his own movies.

All throughout his school years, Anthony watched as many movies as he could.  He liked the way they looked, the way they sounded, and was fascinated by how they were made.

His desire to make movies led him to get involved with still photography.   He often uses his still photography to help him visualize potential movie scenes.  He also takes pictures of what he encounters throughout his day and posts them on his Instagram Account #thepicboi.  Anthony says that photography allows him to show the world how he sees the world.

Anthony often has more than one movie in the works.  He writes them, casts them and films them.  Most of Anthony’s friends are also movie creators.  They have formed a tight-knit group and support each other’s projects by serving as actors and providing technical assistance.

As with many artists, Anthony’s art is more about the process than the product.  Anthony says “Creating movies is something I have to do”.

We are happy to have Anthony as a member of the Horn Photo team!
